Singularity

I have done them many many times, sunsets are always compelling and inspiring to me, but seldom work as paintings, at least from

my perspective in my own work. I finally realized, that though I think red in paintings is beautiful as an accent, it can be too garish when overly used in such a scene. So, my personal choices of color now in these scenes is a strange mixture in which reds are reduced with greenish tints and yellows burn hotter with white, and dim violets draw them together and outward into the darker realms.

The over all effect, then, is one of burnished golden hues against cool dark forms.
